One Large Discount + Dillen 2 = A winning combination!
I bought this Dillen 2 from Boscov's as they had it with a serious price cut.
Very serious price cut!
I had wanted a Dillen 2 Leather Satchel for awhile, at least over a year. (Boscov's lists this as "Dooney & Bourke Core Leather Satchel". This bag features the same item number as the Dillen 2 Leather Satchel, Item 6L968.)
I had been looking many places for a good price, much like every other shopper, for about a year.
About two weeks ago, I stumbled upon "Boscov's. I had never heard of the store. My first browsing session at "Boscov's", I find a sale on handbags, including a small selection of the Dillen 2 Leather Satchels (gasp!)
To me, this was a MAJOR sale. The other shocker? The Dillen 2 were in colors I would actually covet and be proud to own & be part of my collection.. No strange handbag was on sale, that I might buy but never want to carry because of the color!
I started to buy the item. I had received three gift certificates and they were almost enough to pay for the entire bag. Then I discovered the website accepts only ONE gift card per order at this time.
I thought my Dillen 2 would not be coming to live with me.
There is no "Boscov's" near me in North Carolina, so visiting a "brick & mortar" location was impossible.
I decided to call Boscov's customer service, keeping my fingers crossed three gift cards could be combined into one card.
I was THRILLED!
The super friendly customer service representative said "No problem for us to combine your certificates into one."
Not only did she say it was no problem, I felt she actually meant it was really no problem to solve my predicament.
On hold, I wondered if I might have to wait.
What if they have to email my card to me later after combining them? When the customer service representative came back on the line, before I could ask how long the procedure might take, she told me that she had them combined, and which one of the three cards to use! WOW! She friendly & helpful, she was FAST.
Unfortunately, I did not get her name, for which I am very sorry, because I would like to thank her again for treating me so nice!
I was lucky she answered my call!
I returned to the purchase and successfully got through checkout, (yay!)
Checkout was very easy and straightforward.
I ordered the bag on a Friday around 11 am EST and choose standard shipping speed.
The package arrived on Wednesday.
Excellent timing.
Counting the order day, three business days from order to in my home & hands.
I chose gray.
It was one of the Dillen 2 colors on sale.
The gray is beautiful, it is a medium to dark gray shade.
The bag's hardware is gold-tone, and only the front of the bag has a square emblem featuring the word "Dooney", a small tasteful duck in the middle, and then "Bourke."
I was pleased it was easy to adjust the long strap that came with the bag and make it longer.
The top zipper is operates smoothly (nice, as an occasional Dooney bag can have a difficult zippers.)
Next, I decided to put a purse organizer inside the bag (a "Pursfection" organizer.
Mostly I hope to protect the lining on the inside from dirt, ink, etc. Things that happen to handbags in their day to day lives.)
In my case, this is where I discovered a problem.
The bag did not unzip far enough to easily place the organizer inside the bag.
It required folding the organizer, etc. to get it inside the bag.
There is plenty of room for a longer zipper to have been used and it would be helpful in my opinion to be able to have more access to the bag.
I was not aware the Dillen 2 Satchels do not have the "feet" on the bottom.
I mistakenly thought when the Dillen 2 line debuted, Dooney & Bourke had added brass "feet" to the bag.
I am used having "feet" on the other Dooney bags I carry.
I must remember to be extra careful when and where I set the bag down.
Both the Dillen and Dillen 2 have the key leash holder inside the bag. The Dillen 2 bag lining is pinkish white checked blend that makes it easy to see inside and find the item you want.
One difference between the original Dillen Satchel & the Dillen 2 Satchel is the amount of pockets inside of the bag.
A Dillen has a zipper pocket on one side of the bag & a small pocket on the other for a total of two pockets. Both the Dillen zipper pocket and slip pocket are wider and will hold a bit more.
The smaller slip pocket inside is wider and easily holds my "smartPhone" with room to spare in the pocket.
By comparison, the Dillen 2 has two pockets on each side.
One side of the Dillen 2 bag has a smaller zip pocket.
Below zipper pocket is a slip pocket.

There are two pockets described as "slip pockets".
To me, there is a small pocket, it fits my "smartPhone" if the phone or case were much bigger, I would not be able to put the phone in that pocket.
There is a second pocket next to the first, larger and has a strap like snap fastener.
It is helpful to secure an item in the pocket.
The changes made from the Dillen to the Dillen 2 are excellent in my opinion, because it the bag has more organization.
Boscov's has the dimensions of the bag stated.
I was curious so I weighed the bag with nothing inside.
It weighs in at just a bit over two pounds (if this is information someone needs.)
The things I would change on this bag is I wish it opened up wider when completely unzipped and I would love feet on the bottom of the bag to protect it from dirt, etc.
I wish I could give this bag 4.5 out of 5 stars, but I will have to go with five stars with Boscov's rating system.
From start to finish this was a *fantastic* purchase.
I have no regrets purchasing this bag. .
Boscov's price was UNBEATABLE. I have never seen a price as low on a Dillen 2 bag anywhere.
I consider myself very fortunate to have found an affordable Dooney, in a beautiful color too!
I will enjoy the Dillen 2.
With Dooney & Bourke's free one year warranty backing the bag (make sure to always register your bags with Dooney & Bourke!) gives me additional reassurance and protection.
I made a great choice in both the handbag & the store I bought it from! Thanks Boscov's for a GREAT first time shopping experience and giving me a beautiful bag to treasure for years to come!
