FRIENDS HELPING FRIENDS

On Tuesday, October 22, 2013, Boscov’s Department Store will again host our popular, FRIENDS HELPING FRIENDS, a special day filled with fun and fundraising, to benefit area non-profit organizations. In October, 2012 FRIENDS HELPING FRIENDS day was a tremendous success, raising over $500,000 for service organizations in communities with Boscov’s stores throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York and Maryland. We would like to invite your organization to join in the success of this year’s FRIENDS HELPING FRIENDS day
Every 501c and 170c1 non-profit organization is eligible to participate. There is no cost or obligation to any participating organization. Your organization will be supplied with $5 shopping passes, as many as you want, to sell to friends, neighbors and family. Everyone who purchases a $5 Friends Helping Friends pass receives a 25% discount shopping pass* for purchases made only on October 22, 2013.  In addition, they are eligible to win fabulous door prizes including shopping sprees as well as valuable merchandise items. Your organization keeps the entire $5 from every shopping pass sold.

Boscov’s supplies the passes, signs, advertising and the free refreshments served throughout the day in our store on Friends day. It is truly a terrific opportunity for your group and its supporters. And it’s fun! For more information and to participate please contact Jacqueline Paquet at (610) 370-3957 or jpaquet@boscovs.com.

Boscov’s Berkshire supports the United Way of Berks County as it kicks off its READY, SET, READ literacy program

During the months of June and July, Boscov’s East is collecting books to distribute to children in various Ready, Set, Read programs.  You can help local children build their reading skills.
It’s simple!

  • Choose a book or books from the reading list, available at the Boscov’s Courtesy Desk.
  • Purchase the book and drop it in one of our Page It Forward collection bins by Wednesday, July 31st.
  • Books will be sorted and delivered to kids and programs working with kids.
Thank you for donating children’s books and helping kids become better readers!

CELL PHONE DONATIONS
Boscov's and the 911 Cell Phone Bank have partnered to promote responsible cell phone recycling and provide emergency communications to those in need.

Customers who have used cell phones are encouraged to drop them off at the Customer Service desk at any Boscov's location.  Collected cell phones will be sent to the 911 Cell Phone Bank for processing.  In return, the 911 Cell Phone Bank will provide law enforcement in communities served by Boscov's with free emergency cell phones for seniors and victims of abuse.

About 911 Cell Phone Bank:
The 911 Cell Phone bank is an initiative of The Charitable Recycling Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  It was created to provide an ongoing and readily available source of emergency cell phones to meet unexpected and urgent needs of vulnerable residents in communities nationwide.  Since its inception, the 911 Cell Phone Bank has generated more than 80,000 emergency cell phones for victim services organizations nationwide.
